Getting to know Dino Rossi

I’ve been approached more than a few times lately by people saying things like, I like Rossi, but I hear he isn’t for education, he cut teachers pay, or he is against affordable healthcare.  At times it can get a little frustrating to hear these arguments, mostly because they are not the Dino Rossi I know, but rather, because they are the product of a well executed Gregoire campaign.

So how am I to respond?  Well I can tell you one way that I and other Dino Rossi fans have responded.

Mind you, I’m not excited about admitting this, but the response we gave on more than one occasion was to go look at Dino’s website.  And that answer which bugged me from the second the words left my lips, is the reason for this post.  People! And I include myself, if we can’t, on the spot, reasonably explain to others why Dino Rossi is the best candidate for Governor, then we aren’t helping him to win.   Do you remember the question to Obama supporters about what he has actually done.  We don’t look any different than they, when we can’t answer either.

I won’t liken Dino Rossi to the Messiah, that’s been over used by the other side, but I liken this situation to living my Christian faith.  When someone asks about Christ, I need to have an answer, not just a Tell Christ web address.  The Bible and/or the Rossi website are great additional resources, but the battle is fought in the moment and on a personal level.

All this is why I’ve spent more and plan to spend even more time getting to know Dino Rossi before I am put on the spot.  And that’s just a defensive move.  Imagine having the knowledge and confidence to go on the offense.  Go Dino!

  1. This is why I like Dino:
    1) He’s signed the FRONT of a paycheck in the real non-government world.
    2) He accomplished balancing a State Budget before.
    3) His leadership brought together bi-partisan support that forced the sitting governor, who was opposed to it to sign it, knowing full well that if vetoed, it easily would have been overturned by a 2/3 majority+
    4) He is campaigning based on his accomplishments like an incumbant should, whereas his opponent has gone negative just like a challenger should. hmmmm.
    5) Many current Democrat legislators like him.
    6) The last race wouldn’t have been so close in this state without so many voters who usually vote democrat tired of 24 years of Spend and tax and Spend.
    7) He wants to make Washington a great State to run a business and horrible State for criminals. (and you’d think a former attorney general would be tough on crime, instead of releasing thousands of felons early.)

  2. If you are really with Christ you would be against war. Jesus Christ = prince of PEACE

  3. Last I heard Governors don’t make policies regarding war. Just like Cities don’t make policies regarding declarations of War.
But if that’s why you support Dino, good for you and welcome aboard.
    Thank you.

  4. Evan, not sure how your comment connects with this post, but for your comment I would submit being peaceful does not mean you are a willing to die a pacifist. Reading Luke 22 you will find that Christ had some concern that his followers have swords. Also read http://wallywonderswhy.com/?p=346 and/or http://wallywonderswhy.com/?p=560 as well as study in the bible where you will find that Christ will bring peace to the world when he returns. Christians can be peace minded, loving, caring and still defend our nation and our homes.

  5. Make no mistake, you are war mongers. Your system of government, your way of life is exploitation. You think invading Iraq is defending anything? You like stop-loss? You need to sorely re-evaluate your theory of Christ. Turn the other cheek; blessed are the meek; blessed are the peacemakers… etc…

Christ would disown you and Dino “Saur” Rossi, because he would see that there is nothing in your hearts but deception, invasion, occupation, exploitation, destruction, and an unwillingness to love your muslim brothers. Don’t slander Christianity with your “defend our homes” lies.

  6. It’s your system of government too, evan.
You already know that I am not a proponent of the stop loss, but would you have preferred serving in Iraq with a bunch of doped up draftees like many of my friends had to tolerate while they served in Viet Nam?
It sounds like you know christ well, good for you.

    Well gotta go.

  7. Rossi is a bold faced liar. Washington State does not rank #1 in foreclosures.

  8. Clovis,

That’s quite a bold statement. Do you have any facts to back that up? Perhaps when and where he said that Washington State ranked #1 in foreclosures?
