Taxpayers funding the abortion industry is not another bailout

We’ve seen the bailout of the banking industry; we’ve seen the bailout of the auto industry and in both cases we ask why should we taxpayers be involved. That’s a good question, and a question that I’m sure will be discussed for decades to come as the billions come due for repayment by working taxpayers. Even the question of whether these loans are bailouts is a question that is already talked about. However, no matter what the semantics and mechanics of the solutions are, it is out of concern for the economy and those who would suffer, that I believe most people were willing to stomach the bailouts.
On the flipside, OneNewsNow.com recently used bailout in reference to moneys that will be asked for and likely granted to pro-abortion groups by the Obama Administration.
A pro-life group in Washington has launched a campaign to oppose what it calls president-elect Barack Obama’s planned $1.5 billion "bailout" of the abortion industry.
They go on to describe the bailout.
Last week, the Obama-Biden Transition Project posted a report on its website that calls for dramatic policy reversals on abortion, including $1 billion in taxpayer money for international abortion groups like Planned Parenthood. The report, titled "Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New Administration," also calls for a 133-percent increase in funding for the Title X program, which funds Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.
In the case of mortgage banks and the auto industry, bailout may or may not be the most correct term. In this case of taxpayer increased funding to the abortion industry though, it is most definitely not a bailout.
LifeSiteNews.com: Many of the recommendations are about who gets government support. The pro-abortion groups not only want more money — nearly $3 billion — but they also want the government to stop funding groups who do not share their ideology. For example, notice the following four recommendations out of the many contained in the document:
• Provide $1 Billion for International Family Planning Programs
• Restore Funding to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) •
Increase Funding for Title X Family Planning Program to $700 million
• De-fund Abstinence-Only Programs
This program promoted by the upcoming Obama Administration is not a bailout, it is more than just money, it is our national government increasing it’s active role in the nations abortion industry. Not only will taxpayers be asked to pay for more abortions, our lawmakers will be asked to adjust the rules that might inhibit expansion of the abortion industry.
I’ve heard some on the left say that we export death; I know they were referring to our national defense, but with this Obama-Biden promoted program’s international element, I will finally agree with the left; we will be exporting death.
I recommend reading the whole program yourself so here is a link to Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New Administration and here is a word that you won’t find anywhere in the 55 page document, adoption. Yes, the document is literally littered with words like abortion and reproductive rights, but no where did I find the word adoption.
And why would anyone expect that they would; groups like Planned Parenthood are not in the business of adoption. I know that may comes as a shocker to the many who believe that Planned Parenthood is all about contraception, women’s health and helping mothers make choices, but it is not.
This is a snapshot of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America 2006/2007 report and the columns represent figures from 2005 & 2006. They claim in the report that “abortion services” represent only 3% of total services provided, yet I see that in 2006 they had just over 3 million clients and performed almost 300,000 abortions. The 3% is a distraction, a hey look a bird, while the real number looks a bit more like 10% of their clientele are there for abortions. So within one presidential term over a million kids will have died at the hand of Planned Parenthood using our tax dollars. And that is with a pro-life Bush Administration; how will the body count look after 4 years of a pro-abortion Obama Administration.
Getting back to the A word; adoption. I think we all realize that actual parenthood has little to do with Planned Parenthood. If it did, then surely with clients having almost 300,000 abortions performed in 2006, many fold of this would have been referred for adoption, you know where kids are actually born and raised by parents. But no, look at the teeny tiny small number; over 1 million pregnancy tests; almost 300,000 abortions; yet only 2,410 adoption referrals. That token amount of adoption referrals doesn’t do anything to convince me that Planned Parenthood cares about the life of unborn children.
It is a sad statement that not only do we allow this to go on in our nation, but with hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars being routed there, our government is listed as an affiliate in Planned Parenthood’s balance sheet.
During the next 4 years I will show respect the office of the President of the United States and I will continue to let my representatives know how I wish to be represented; but I will also remain proud that I did not cast my vote for what could be the most grizzly administration in the history of this nation.
