I just finished The Mormon Faith of Mitt Romney: What Latter-day Saints Teach and Practice by Dr. Andrew Jackson on Kindle for Android!
During the early part of the last presidential campaign I first supported Fred Thompson and had the field not narrowed, leaving him out of contention, I would have voted for him at election time. But campaigns do progress and so by caucus time I was supporting Mitt Romney who I felt best represented the conservative principles that I believe are best for our nation: individual responsibility, economic prosperity through lower taxes, strong national defense and decisions that reflect the Christian faith and values upon which our nation was founded. Four years later, as causus time approaches once again, I also find myself once again favoring Mitt Romney so the timing on this book was spot on.
Don’t be confused, this book is not directly about Mitt Romney. However, Mitt Romney is the vehicle for Jackson to deliver a very well organized and easy to read study of Mormon faith and history. With Mitt Romney as a front runner for 2012 I think it is important to understand how his Mormon faith might color his presidency and that is what Jackson’s book delivers.
I recommend this book for anyone who is either considering a vote for Mitt Romney or who would enjoy a look a the often overlooked role that the Mormons have played in United States history.
