Shallow reporting of Socialist agenda

Bellingham Herald ran a story today about the latest of countless anti-war demonstrations at WWU. Iraq war protesters hold ‘Campus Die-In’ at WWU. Their shallow reporting barely identified the organizers:

The demonstration was organized by student anti-war groups and students in the college’s World Issues Study Group class

The amateur college newspaper Western Front had a bit more depth to the coverage including one dissenting voice.

“I know it is a protest against the Iraq War, but I don’t know what they hope to accomplish by lying down with red trash bags in Red Square,” Western junior Sarah Carter said.

G.S. Raugust who wrote the Western Front did actually identify some of the organizers and supporters which gives us a better picture of who is actually driving this protest.

Protest organizers wanted to give students on campus a chance to participate in the national debate and to get together with local peace organizations such as the Whatcom Peace and Justice Center to find resources to deal with their feelings about the war, Neilsen said.

If everyone around the country on all the college campuses did something like this, there might be some change in our government’s policy,” said Western freshman Alex Williamson, a member of Western’s chapter Students for a Democratic Society,

Students for a Democratic Society is the “youth branch of a socialist educational organization known as the League for Industrial Democracy (LID) which descended from the Intercollegiate Socialist Society” What “change in our government’s policy” is she hoping for? She is in college though, and may not realize that she is being used as a pawn.

Whatcom Peace and Justice Center is a well known socialist group who among other things recently promoted to the anti-war troops home resolution to Gene Knutson and other members of the Bellingham City Council. Gene was all for it this time, even if it was none of the council’ business. Gene by the way announced he will be running for mayor. I would consider him to be one of the socialist we shouldn’t vote into office.
