Any press is good press?

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

With regards to campaign name recognition, a fellow blogger recently claimed that any press is good press, citing how the bad press which Ronald Reagan received during his campaign actually helped in the end.  My ideological side wants to believe he is wrong; it wants to believe that people are smarter than this; but my pragmatic side won’t let it.

Perhaps though, you are in the minority and a deep thinker; you look past rumors, innuendos, slander, sexist remarks and pure name recognition.  If that is you, then unfortunately, there is nothing in today’s post for you.

For those who don’t have time to think or whose depth of thought is barely big toe deep anyway, those of you who will be easily swayed with name recognition only, I offer this clip featuring one of Hollywood’s mental giants and her thoughts on VP nominee Sarah Palin.

“I can’t stand her. She can suck it.”     Metaphor?  Allegory?  I don’t know, but it was deep wasn’t it.  A lot deeper than you would expect from an ex-Baywatch babe.     Oh how I wish that Poindexter wasn’t right in his claim that any press is good press because I feel compelled to write in Hasselhoff/Anderson or maybe break a glass ceiling with Anderson/Hasselhoff.

Seriously though Pam, keep talking about Sarah Palin and even John McCain.  We enjoy the free press.

And while we are in the Hollywood mode, I hope that Matt Damon keeps spreading rumors like the one he and HamsterTalk are so fond of, again we love the free press.
