Socialism II – Destruction of the human spirit

Friday, October 10th, 2008

russian bread line Rounding the corner and coming down the homestretch to the 2008 election are two candidates who have vastly different plans for the future of our so far free nation.

On one hand we have the McCain/Palin ticket who lean towards conserving our nations traditionally free way of government and on the other hand we have the Obama/Biden ticket, who with Democratic Party support, are planning big changes in our nation.  If we elect Barrack Obama we are electing to transform our nation to a socialist nation.  Time to ask yourself if that is really the kind of change you are looking for in our nation.

Today I’ve reposted two earlier posts that I feel are very timely to the decision we have facing us in a few weeks.  Baby Steps, one of my earlier post, briefly describes the path from capitalism to communism.  The second Destruction of the Human Spirit is a more recent post that connects Barrack Obama with this line of thinking.

Destruction of the human spirit – June 15, 2008

The Democratic Party’s socialist aims are not really secret; just highly under reported and rarely spoken of. I don’t think Barack Obama’s socialist aims are a secret to anyone either; just highly under reported, rarely spoken of, and not highlighted as such by his campaign.

But in Barack Obama’s back yard, the Chicago arm of the Democratic Socialists of America (CDSA) have known and supported Sen. Obama’s socialist tendencies for over a decade. Googling their sight yields numerous references and as early as 1996 they recognized him as a socialist.

Obama also has put in time at the grass roots, working for five years as a community organizer in Harlem and in Chicago. When Obama participated in a 1996 UofC YDS Townhall Meeting on Economic Insecurity, much of what he had to say was well within the mainstream of European social democracy.

Chicago Democratic Socialists of America

That was in 1996 that the CDSA recognized that much of what Barack Obama promoted was “well within the mainstream of European social democracy.”

A lot about Barack Obama’s upbringing can be found in a Chicago Tribune article from March ’07. I consider the article Barack Obama: Mother not just a girl from Kansas to be essential reading. Senator Obama describes his mother as “the dominant figure in my formative years. . . . The values she taught me continue to be my touchstone when it comes to how I go about the world of politics.” and the Chicago Tribune article describes her in more detail

“She touted herself as an atheist, and it was something she’d read about and could argue,” said Maxine Box, who was Dunham’s best friend in high school. “She was always challenging and arguing and comparing.

paint a vivid portrait of Barack Obama’s mother as a self-assured, iconoclastic young teen seemingly hell-bent to resist Eisenhower-era conformity.

“If you were concerned about something going wrong in the world, Stanley would know about it first,” said Chip Wall, who described her as “a fellow traveler. . . . We were liberals before we knew what liberals were.”

One classmate, Jill Burton-Dascher, said Stanley Ann (Barack Obama’s mother) “was intellectually way more mature than we were and a little bit ahead of her time, in an off-center way.”

Socialism is apparently in his blood. His mother was very much into liberal socialist/communist thought and Barack’s exposure to the socialist mindset continued through his childhood.

However, through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his “poetry” and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just “Frank.”

Accuracy in Media

But where is the harm in Senator Obama’s socialist design for our nation? Well, there is the cost; several trillion dollars as reported by the CATO Institute, however the real harmful cost of socialism is the harmful cost to the human spirit. That cost may not be easy to describe in dollars, but it is easily comprehended by looking at the refugees from any socialist nation in history.

Coincidentally, in a 1978 address to Barack Obama’s Harvard alma mater, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, describes the peril of socialism first hand.

However, many people living in the West are dissatisfied with their own society. They despise it or accuse it of not being up to the level of maturity attained by mankind. A number of such critics turn to socialism, which is a false and dangerous current.

I hope that no one present will suspect me of offering my personal criticism of the Western system to present socialism as an alternative. Having experienced applied socialism in a country where the alternative has been realized, I certainly will not speak for it. The well-known Soviet mathematician Shafarevich, a member of the Soviet Academy of Science, has written a brilliant book under the title Socialism; it is a profound analysis showing that socialism of any type and shade leads to a total destruction of the human spirit and to a leveling of mankind into death.

Solzhenitsyn, Harvard Address, 1978

Plain and simple, Barack Obama’s socialist plan he refers to as change; is a proven plan for national misery.

The other candidate’s church

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

I won’t comment too much on Rev Wright, Rev. Pfleger, Trinity United Church of Christ; that’s been done, and done, and done.  I won’t comment on whether or not Barack Obama takes to heart their messages; he knows.  Though, in an LA Times article he didn’t attribute his departure to the hateful, racist and politically divisive messages of TUCC, but he did say that he left because he doesn’t want the church subjected to scrutiny.  I read that as support; that is appalling.

For reasons too numerous to list, I would never vote for Barack Obama, but I do expect to be casting my vote this fall for a qualified candidate, John McCain.  So why not take at least a quick peek his religion and his church?

“I was raised in an Episcopal church and attended high school at a high school called Episcopal High School. I have attended North Phoenix Baptist Church for many years, and the most important thing is that I’m a Christian. And I don’t have anything else to say on the issue,” McCain said.  ABCNews

npbc I guess if he doesn’t have anything else to say, then it was just a quick peek.   According to the same article, his presidential campaign said he had been attending North Phoenix Baptist Church for more than 15 years.  My initial reaction to their website was that they seemed like a normal Christian church.  Initial reaction to Sen. Obama’s church could also be normal Christian, but scratching the surface of a many UCC churches and TUCC especially, show they have a certain twist or addition to Christ’s true message.  So for fairness I took a scratch at the surface of John McCain’s church.  What I found was a very Christ centered church.  Just helping others, helping others to find faith in Christ, Christ’s message; no twists.  Certainly nothing hateful, nor racist.  But again, to be fair, I listened to a couple of messages delivered by Pastor Dan Yeary.  I especially liked one from Feb ’08 titled  Living Generously: Loving Your Enemies.  He read a quote from of all people, progressive Anne Lamont.

You can safely assume that you’ve created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.

When I heard that quote again in this context, I couldn’t keep from thinking how Mr. Obama’s TUCC version of a god seems to also have disdain the white portion of America.

Bottom Line ==>  I hope more people scratch the surface of John McCain’s church, faith and religion.  I think Christianity is well represented and will be well served.

I’ve kept silent about the topic of religion and Senator Obama, not because I think it is a non-topic, but rather it is such a huge multifaceted topic that I couldn’t figure a good place to start.

  • boydog129 90 degreesIs Rev. Wright’s hate speak a sound Christian principle?
  • If not, is it okay for a pastor to sprinkle a little hatred from the pulpit now and then, as long as it is not his primary message?
  • Is Rev. Wright’s message really racism against whites or Jews? Was that Christ’s message?
  • Is it correct to preach “blackism” over Christianity or even Islam, in the case of Minister Louis Farrakan and the Nation of Islam?
  • Which is more important in a Christian Church; church culture or Christ’s message?
  • If you found yourself in church that you feel teaches and incorrect message, should you leave the church, stay and fight for change, stay and raise your family there?
  • Can you attend a church for 20 years and not know the message being delivered?
  • How could Senator Obama attend a Christian Church and not understand Christ’s message?
  • What are the odds that over the last 20 years, Senator Obama missed each and every service where Rev. Wright delivered hateful messages?
  • I doze off from time to time in church; could my pastor be a hate monger and I’ve just missed it? Does Senator Obama doze a bit from time to time also?
  • Is Senator Obama telling the truth in this situation?
  • Is Senator Obama raising his family in this church because it is; locally popular? consistent with his values? politically advantages? or because he believes in the message.

I’m sure there are many other facets, but these was enough to overwhelm my pea brain. I guess really I could figure a place to start, but couldn’t follow a clear path through all the muck. As a mere human I can’t really comment on what is going on in Senator Obama’s heart, nor Rev. Wright nor Minister Louis Farrakan’s, but I can highlight a couple of simplified, but obvious conclusions.

  • Sen. Obama knew of Rev. Wright’s hateful teachings, disagreed with them and yet did nothing about it except to lie to America and for God only know what reason, weekly subjected his family to this type of hate.
  • Sen. Obama knew of Rev. Wright’s hateful teachings, agreed with them, lied to America about this agreement, and thinks American’s are stupid enough to believe that he attended this church for 20 years without ever hearing a one of them.

Neither of these is desirable and I don’t see any way that the facts about Sen. Obama’s relationship with Rev. Wright qualify him as an honest person. Rather, either one of these conclusions would seem to make Sen. Obama a liar and disqualify him as material for President of the United States, yet he is still popular.

Have we become so callus in choosing politicians, that we accept liars with out question? Is that why no one asks Sen. Obama’s to explain his message of hope and change; because it may just be a lie anyway so why bother asking?

The Democratic Party and Senator Obama’s push for Socialism in the US is why they lose my vote and the non-truths in this situation is why Sen. Obama also loses my respect.

NoBama!
